$290.00
Taiwan's "Amber Age" Ten-Year Agricultural Rum
Awarded Double Gold Internationally, Paying Tribute to the Distillery's Two Decades of Craftsmanship
Taiwanese spirits once again enter the international arena! Amber Age Ten-Year Agricultural Rum, brewed from local red sugarcane in Taiwan, showcases the unique terroir and exquisite craftsmanship, winning gold medals (91 points) at both the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) and the 2025 International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) (95 points).
Taiwan boasts a unique tropical and subtropical climate, ideal for oak barrel-aging spirits. In addition to its climate advantages, Taiwan's abundant sugarcane resources provide ideal conditions for rum production. While early distilleries primarily used sugarcane molasses as a base to produce white rum for the bar market, the creation of Amber Age took a different approach.
Ten years ago, Bunnyville Distillery experimented with fermenting red sugarcane juice, creating a rare "agricultural rum." At the time, the international rum market was flooded with options, and this batch of rum wasn't released after being barreled. Instead, it sat quietly in a corner of the distillery, gradually forgotten.
It wasn't until Bunnyville Distillery was sorting through its oak barrel inventory that they accidentally opened this batch of rum, which had been matured for ten years, that the rum revealed a breathtaking depth and complexity: an amber hue imbued with tropical fruit, vanilla, and wood notes. The palate is rich and full, with notes of caramelized sugar cane, dried longan, spice, and a touch of smokiness, leaving a lingering finish.
This precious batch was initially offered only to distillery visitors through "barrel tastings," where it immediately garnered rave reviews. Due to its limited availability, the distillery originally intended for public release. However, after being submitted to an international competition, Amber Age unexpectedly won double gold, sparking a desire among many aficionados to collect this exquisite rum.
"Amber Age" features a distinctive stone bottle design, inspired by the rock's unwavering and enduring qualities. Stone symbolizes the tempering of time and the power of nature, just as this agricultural rum reveals its rich layers of depth after years of maturation. The bottle's texture creates a calm and substantial feel, allowing the drinker to sense the weight of the earth and time the moment they open it.
This design is more than just a bottle; it's an artistic medium, conveying Amber Age's respect for traditional craftsmanship and its intertwined interpretation of "time, nature, and memory." It invites each drinker to cherish this story of time in their hands and savor the timeless mark of the Amber Age.
Amber Age is presented in a unique "book-shaped" packaging, evoking the concept of opening a long-forgotten chapter. The moment the lid is opened, it's like turning the pages of a classic book that carries the significance of the times, revealing not only the story of this rum but also the history and value it carries. This unique packaging is more than just a container; it's a symbol: it transforms Amber Age's decade of history into a treasured chapter. While savoring the spirit, consumers can cherish the distillery's meaningful journey, feeling as if they own their own personal piece of the Amber Age.
Coinciding with the 20th anniversary of Bunnyville Distillery, Amber Age was chosen to commemorate the distillery's transition from experimental spirits to the international stage. Limited to 50 bottles worldwide, Amber Age 10-Year Agricultural Rum is priced at US$290. This is not only Taiwan's longest-matured agricultural rum, but also a precious gift from Taiwan's land and time, symbolizing the firm presence of Taiwanese spirits on the international stage.
